Yeah, but, no, but, yeah, but, no, but... AI is also disrupting the concept of the value stream itself, expanding it out to a value network. The biggest assumption is that there is one linear process.

The classic value stream mapping is a limiting factor. We do not make a linear assumption. But we do start mapping in a linear function and watch the group's reaction when it starts to break down. The moment that collaboration begins, linearity inevitably breaks down. Having said that, the notion of predictable flexibility relies on some sort of an identifiable end state (product is released) and flexible (non-linear) paths to get there.
